Sree Narayana Mangalam Training College was established on July 20th, 1960 at Moothakunnam. It is situated on the banks of the Periyar river with its vicinity to the famous Sankara Narayana Temple. The College emerged as an attempt to uplift the weaker sections of the society by providing education to the downtrodden, thereby ensuring social equality. The college upholds the teachings of the famous philosopher, spiritual leader and social reformer of our nation, Sree Narayana Guru. SNM Training College is one of the oldest training colleges in Kerala, adjacent to National Highway 66. It is situated a few kilometres away from the famous ancient port town, Muziris. The serene atmosphere around the college provides a conducive environment for academic and intellectual pursuits. The learning experiences provided by the college help in inculcating human values and student friendliness. The college offers both B. Ed and M.Ed courses. B.Ed Course commenced in the year 1960, and at present, it has an intake of 50 students in an academic year. The various subjects offered include Commerce, English, Malayalam, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science and Social Science. M.Ed course began in the year 2005, which has now an intake of 50 students. Over the years, the college has been successful in upholding the values of Sree Narayana Guru by continuing its incessant indulgence in uplifting the backward sessions of society through the medium of education.
